Description: This project involved the replacement of the existing timber and crittal single glazed windows, which had deteriorated over a period of time with new PVC-u windows, which had to comply with stringent Planning requirements. Negotiations with the local planning department were drawn out due to the building being classified as “of local importance”. It was important to maintain the external appearance of the building whilst utilizing modern materials, which in turn would increase the energy efficiency of the building and create a well ventilated working space during the summer months. This avoided the need to install costly air conditioning throughout the building.
A close working relationship with the contractor and building occupants allowed the work to be successfully completed whilst the building remained open to the public with no complaints or problems.
